The Vicorder system provides a simple and quick non-invasive method of obtaining the Pulse Wave Velocity (PWV) for an arterial segment.

Both cuffs are automatically inflated to 65mmHg and the corresponding oscillometric signal (PVR) from each cuff is digitally analysed using the latest patented technique to accurately extract, in real time, the pulse time delay and the consequent Pulse Wave Velocity.

Furthermore, this “hands off” technique allows sequential monitoring of PWV for time varying events such as the response to flow enhanced reactive hyperaemia which can be induced using the distal cuff as a intermittent occlusion cuff.
